We’ve all been asked to mark our calendars with this specific date and the specific product in mind. That’s correct, as rumour says, the BB10 operating system and smartphone are about to be revealed to the world tomorrow, the 30th of January. This, according to many tech personalities is the “make it or break it” moment for RIM, the Canadian company that has been struggling recently. The company’s market share in smartphones dropped from 40% to 4% in just four years and its PlayBook tablet was a flop.
However there seem to be a ray of hope coming through the dark clouds. This positive outburst has been coming our way from all those that had a hands-on experience with this apparently spectacular device.
Gadget fan Jonathan Ross describes it on Twitter as “the most impressive new phone I’ve played with” and Stephen Fry admits that the new operating system offers “amazing features.”
TechRadar said they were impressed with how smooth and slick the interface felt under their fingers – “the gestures work very, very well after a few minutes, the powerful messaging ecosystem is still there and even the on screen keyboard is great.”
The ‘new’ BlackBerry offers ‘personal’ and ‘work’ modes, and a ‘flowing’ approach to switching between apps. Saying that, with so many things to learn, it will take some serious and quick education to get users up to speed.
What else the BB10 has to offer? Well we need to wait and see. Stay tuned for more information on the device itself as well as on the latest accessories available from us.
