8th July 2013 – Chessington, Surrey – Frequency Telecom, the UK-based European distributor of mobile accessories and audio products, is delighted to announce that it has been included within The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 list of Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales, measured over their latest two years of available accounts.
The only mobile and audio distribution company to be included within the list, Frequency Telecom achieved the rank of 41 with a reported turnover of £27.2 million of which £17.8 million was achieved overseas. This represents a growth of 88.5% in its international sales, due to Frequency Telecom’s investment and expansion into new European markets.
Commenting on the achievement, Gareth Limpenny, Managing Director of Frequency Telecom, said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be included within the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 and it is testament to our proven business model, fastidious approach to detail and ability to identify changing trends, which enables us to develop effective niches within each of the product sectors we trade in. This can only be achieved with good people and I am extremely proud of the fantastic team we have built here at Frequency Telecom.”
Limpenny continues, “In what has been an exceptional year at Frequency, the inclusion within the list further cements our position as a major international distributor of smartphone accessories and audio products. We are confident that through 2013, we will continue to build on this success, as we explore additional new markets and continue adding strategic products to our portfolio.”
Formed in 2002, Frequency Telecom was initially set up as a tailored distribution service, supplying high-quality handsets to a demanding telecoms customer base. Through careful tracking and monitoring of trends in the industry, it took the strategic decision to change direction and focus on smartphone accessories. Significant growth in the UK meant it could also take advantage of the smartphone boom across Europe and invested heavily in the high calibre personnel essential to support the business long-term. The business has now evolved to include cases and accessories for all of the major brands of smartphones, tablets and other personal electronic devices as well as now offering a comprehensive range of audio products.
Frequency Telecom’s relationships with its customers are crucial to the success of its long-term business. With a focus on sourcing the right products, which are then packaged in such a way that its customers can slot them into their campaigns to maximise sales, Frequency Telecom is also able to tactically manage routes to market. This enables Frequency Telecom to manage margin, minimise risk and support sell through effectively and efficiently.
Limpenny continues, “Working closely with our customers allows us to understand their businesses, both in terms of the products and support they require as well as their financial circumstances. By offering tailored marketing and sales activities as part of our support package, we actively involve the Manufacture and retailer to meet specific needs”
Always looking for new opportunities, Frequency Telecom has successfully traded across Europe since it was formed in 2002. 2009 saw serious investment in its European team with dedicated sales and marketing offices now operating in Germany, Scandinavia and Russia and a bilingual sales team fluent in 14 languages. The UK business still remains its core market, where it continues to enhance its overall value to its customers through new products and improved service. Crucial to this is Frequency Telecom’s team and the culture within it. Constant investment in training and personal development has meant the company has a very loyal staff in excess of 60 across its European operations.
Frequency Telecom’s success in 2012 has enabled it to build even stronger foundations and financial stability, which enables it to reinvest back into the business to make it stronger for the future. Still very much focused on cost control and continuing to operate the business as efficiently as possible, 2013 will continue to see Frequency Telecom invest in its future to achieve further growth.
